Writer's Project #20

I believe that remediating the work I did in my Persuasive Research Project as an academic poster will be a fairly simple task although it will require more multimodal elements than I am used to having. Changing up the structure of the persuasive research project to form an online academic poster is a genius idea because it will be able to communicate to not only verbal and writer and reader type people but also with visual people that are more into a structured designs.I think the whole idea of “medium is the message” is about how the way we represent our ideas through the mediums expresses what we are trying to say and who we are trying to address. In a sense an academic poster is much like a fancier and more educated brochure. In this way you can talk to people a lot more about your ideas and the direction you’re going and what you want them to achieve and this will make it a lot easier to communicate everything verbally while having amazing visuals to look at and to attract the people of the audience is meant to be for.

I think it’ll be challenging to find visuals or multi modal elements for some of my ideas and paragraphs but perhaps I would add more statistics and info-graphics to those parts. I think it’ll be interesting to see what happens. Doing this project as an academic poster does give me new possibilities for the presentation of my research because it gives me more areas to work with that the general audience would understand. People are more interested in visuals and what I have to say versus any paper I could write. Most of the world isn’t interested in reading a bunch of words that they don’t understand and would rather hear me talk about the passion I have in my voice. So I think this will be very interesting to see how it plays out.

I believe the academic poster project would be more persuasive to the audience for my research because it reaches out to more of a variety of people. I know Travis Bart is more interested in visuals and info graphs which is exactly what we would be able to provide more of in an academic poster versus a long essay that he has trouble focusing on and reading. So I would easily be able to convince him with the academic poster and I believe the same goes for Julie Bart. I think a lot of people are very interested in creativity and seeing my voice and passion behind what we are trying to implement with this project and I do believe that with the academic poster project I will be able to showcase my boys and all of the data and evidence with that.
