Writer's Journal #7

My original CRQ was “due to the new sustainability movement, how can we implement that recycling system within our accounting firm right now?” while my second CRQ was “how can we raise awareness of picking up after your pet or why do people not pick up after their animals in the neighborhood?” Doing the first son was a lot easier because it was more manageable. The first one was more about recycling and sustainability within an office building and the second one was more personal in regards to people‘s behaviors and their manners which is a little harder to address. In both of these I will have to interact with humans and try to implement different systems but the second one was a little tougher because it involves manners and peoples general behavior that could be offensive if I didn’t handle it the right ways.

The first one sparks my imagination a little better because I like sustainability and I like saving the environment and so this would be a much easier project for me to work on because I’m more passionate about it. The second one was just something I noticed around the neighborhood but it’s not really something I care about that much because I don’t even have a dog or a pet that has that problem.

The first topic was a lot easier to write about and to come up with ideas for because I’m more passionate about it like I said before and it’s something that I can actually implement. The second one was a little tougher because it meant I would have to deal with people and kind of be more confrontational which is something I’m not super great at. The second one was also a little harder because I don’t really have this experience to really be talking to anyone about it. I’ve had animals in the past that I’ve had to pick up after but right now I just have two cats and they don’t require any of that work. I do just know that it’s a common issue and that’s the main reason I picked up the topic but it’s not something that personally effects me. I believe the first topic produces more text because I can write more about it and I can do more background research versus just talking to people and trying to figure out what they’re saying and what they’re not saying.

In the previous tasks I had to do a little more planning and more inventing. Doing these tasks Kinda revealed to me that I am more passionate about the sustainability project and where that is headed in the direction. It is more going to impact my life than the dog one. So therefore I think the first topic is the one I’m going to pursue because I have more to say and I know where I can find great sources on the Internet and perhaps some books that will help write more authentic and more research based claims. I believe I’ll be able to write more content and be able to answer my CRQ question.
