Writer's Journal #2

I work at an accounting firm called TSS Accounting as a tax resolution junior. I have been noticing that we throw a lot of paper and plastic out that is unnecessary and there is no recycle bin area whenever I take out the trash. I have looked around and seen if possibly anyone else had one around but I believe that nobody in our building has a recycle bin or takes care of recycling. This really began to bother me a couple months ago when I first noticed this but now it bothers me more because I’ve learned more about sustainability and our environment. Recycling is an important part of helping our environment and even our earth survive. Many places have implemented the recycling system in the companies they work at and I would like to do that for mine.

I am very interested in recycling in our office because I believe we throw out a lot of things and they end up in landfills when they could be reused for other things rather than sit in piles in the ground. It is our responsibility as humans of earth to take care of the planet we have been given and it starts by recycling any office things we possibly can. Of course there are some things that need to be shredded and probably put in the landfill possibly because of the high classification of it. But most of it can be reused for other things.We need to stop cutting down trees because the trees are what helps us get oxygen and have a more successful and happy life. We need the trees. Kind of piggybacking on what I said earlier it is also important to other people because it is our planet that we share. It is not just my planet that I live on and take care of it is also their planet. I know not everyone cares about the environment but over the years more and more people are starting to because we see the negative impact it has on us when we do not. In Third World countries where the landfills are basically everywhere we have seen the impact it has on the culture and the environment there. I mean how can you even look at the night sky when there’s just a bunch of pollution above your head. Pollution causes illness as well and hygiene issues. It is our duty to make sure that we are inhaling clean air and that we are living in a healthy environment and it starts with recycling within small businesses.

For my journal prompt I was asked to craft a CRQ and so my CRQ is: how can we implement the recycling system within our accounting firm?
