Writer's Journal #11

In my research project my most current CRQ is, I want to answer this question: how can we implement a strong recycling system within our accounting firm right now? I think very structured rigorous observations might be more helpful in regards to my CRQ question and answering it as well as my larger research question because it will have more concrete data as well as detailed descriptions in regards to quantitative and qualitative observations. To conduct my research I would have to be in the office with my two bosses Julie Bart and Travis Bart to discuss all the parts of the recycling and what they have done before as well as what they are doing now.I may also have to go to the actual recycling center that is nearby. This way I can observe exactly how the recycling is done there and what materials we could send them and how far away it is from the office location.

My audience is going to be my two bosses, Julie Bart and Travis Bart as well as all the clients that we have come into contact with and will in the future. The audience is basically going to be the people that come inside and notice the recycling system in place as well as the people that their papers are being recycled with or without their knowledge. This would be about a couple hundred people. They would all benefit from the observations because they could see how implementing the recycling system would be so beneficial to the company. The actual client audience wouldn’t see as much of a result but they would see a mood change when they actually experience the recycling system being put in place if they actually observed it being set. I would say in the end my bosses would value the observation much more than the clients. They also once they see the observations would want the system to be put in place. Or so I believe.

If I was to use direct observation for my larger project it would affect my current phrasing of my central research question by making it a little more specific and more about observations. I think it would make a question a lot more specific and detailed by including observations. It would be a little more narrow down as well because we would change the CRQ question potentially to how can we implement the recycling system within the company right now using direct observation data we put together? I feel as though by adding the direct observation to the central research question, it might make the question drag on longer than necessary but I suppose it would make the whole process also more concrete. It would probably attract more credibility from my audience who are my two bosses.
