The main overall topic sentence of my literacy narrative is going to be about one of my first persuasion-based research project; why people should be pro-life. Then I will go on to write three paragraphs about the three key writing skills I used and how they were relevant to make my essay stronger and more persuasive. The first writing skill I used was providing thorough research from well-known scientists and historians. The second skill I used was structuring my essay so that the reader could follow along easily and stay on track to be able to see my viewpoints. The third skill is my voice and the idea that people must take action in my wording. After, that I will write a concluding paragraph that summarizes all the key points I discussed throughout the essay.

Now I will draw out an outline for my essay planning:

Writing Project #1: Literary Narrative

1) Introduction Paragraph

a) One of the most memorable writing assignments I ever had was in 8th grade English. I had to write a persuasion paper. Little did I know how it would influence my writing skills and my relationship to writing.

b) My persuasion essay was about why everyone should be pro-life. It was a four page essay with heavy research and proper formatting. To be able to have that persuasive essay be persuasive, I needed to learn and include certain skills such as research skills, structure, and voice skills.

c) I realize looking back, that school essay changed the way I viewed writing. It made me realize that every problem in society could not be changed unless you knew how to get people to listen. With writing, we have the power to make people listen.

2) 1st Skill: Research Skills

a) Providing research in many writing forms and projects provides strong evidence of why someone can trust what you are saying and therefore it builds trust.

b) Most people want to naturally believe what you are saying yet there are some that think everyone just makes up everything they say. With research, I was able to provide evidence of not only why I thought they way I did but also why my readers should like me too.

3) 2nd Skill: Proper Structure and Order of Essay skills

a) One of the most vital writing skills anyone can have is to be able to structure words and paragraphs in ways that hook the reader. As I wrote my persuasion piece, I was able to use not only research but also detailed paragraphs to keep my readers interested and wanting to read more.

4) 3rd Skill: Strong voice skills

a) I learned that in writing persuasion, I needed to have a clear strong voice in my essay so that the readers would be persuaded. They needed to see that I am strong, and my way is the right way.

b) I realized that with a strong voice in my writing, I was able to make myself hear. I feel powerful knowing now that I have that skill because of my writing experiences, the persuasion piece specifically.

5) Concluding paragraph

a) Writing the pro-life persuasion piece in 8th grade made me realize that what I wrote mattered and that anything I write today from a simple text to a campaign election speech must be well researched, properly structured, and voiced strongly.

b) Because of this essay, every time I see a problem in the world and want to complain to my Facebook friends, I remember that if I want anyone to listen to me, then I need to use the writing skills I have learned through my persuasive writing project to get people to listen to me.

c) I see myself as a powerful writer now. I can if I want to, get anybody to think like I do with the skills I have learned over time as a writer.
