The purpose I took this course was to get ahead of my course list. I would like to graduate in 2023 with two bachelor’s degrees but in order to do so, I need a whole bunch of classes. I am studying Information Technology and Physics. Both are hard subjects and need a lot of classes to accomplish. With taking this class I can get my basic English class out of the way. Arizona State University is also doing the deal this summer of classes being $99 if we complete it by August 31st. This would save me thousands of dollars. I am an independent student with no financial support so I need to save as much money as I can on my college education. I did sign up for this class late and so I’ve been trying so hard to get this done and to get a good grade before my Fall classes start. Although it is a ASU requirement, I do love English and writing. I wanted to take this course so that I become a better writer. It is a little weird not having a teacher correct every single mistake I made, but I actually am learning a lot more this way. I’m learning how to edit and revise like I’ve never done before. I previously mentioned that I write for my job for the accounting blog. This requires writing skills and so I want this class to help me improve my professional writing skills as well. I think I can already see the difference to be honest.
I previously mentioned that I am taking this course to get ahead and so this would fall under the academic context in regard to why I am taking the course. The next reason was the $99 deal and so I would still apply this to the academic context because I still need to take the course but this just saves me money. I also said I wanted to improve my writing skills because I love to blog in my free time. This is more of a personal context to my purpose for taking the course. Lastly, I mentioned I write as part of my job as an office assistant. To improve for my job would be for the professional context as my purpose for taking this course.
It looks like the academic context is the main purpose I am taking the course. When I listed off all the reasons and figured out the context of each purpose, I was able to see that the academic context had 2 purposes but the other (professional and personal) only had one purpose listed. It looks like the main purpose I am taking this class is for academic purposes. I know this based off the listing I did in the previous two paragraphs.
